Woodland Management

Hampshire Woodchip sources its forest products from local woodlands. All are managed under schemes approved by the Forestry Commission or under Felling Licences granted by them. We are also committed to, wherever possible, finding uses for timber that would otherwise go to landfill.

Hampshire Woodchip is adamant that woodland management should be carried out in a sustainable manner; that felled areas are replanted or otherwise restocked with trees and that harvesting of mature timber is only done at a sustainable rate.

We will not purchase any timber which we do not think fulfils these criteria and will not work with any woodland owners or contractors whom we consider are transgressing the limits of sustainability.

Our associated woodland management practice has over 6,000 acres of woodland under direct management in Hampshire and Berkshire. This gives us direct experience of high quality forest management as well as invaluable local sources of feedstock for woodfuel and round timber for other products.
